Bismi lahi lrahamaani lrahim, Q. 1: 1, transltated 'in the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful'. In Syriac: "bishe lalaha rahmana rhima" (Eastern Syriac dialect).

Alhamdu lillah rabb al'alamin, Q. 2: 2. Translated 'all praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all the words'. In Syriac: "hmada lalaha raba almin". The vowel signs in the Qur'anic verse developed later in the Islamic history. When the vowels are taken out, the Syriac dialect is preserved.

Alrahmani lrahim, Q. 1: 3. Translated 'the Gracious, the Merciful". in Eastern Syriac dialect: "rahmana rhima". The initial /al/ is a late development. when removed from the modern Qur'anic verse, the Eastern Syriac dialect is preserved.

Maliki yawmi ldin, Q. 1: 4. Translated: 'Master of the Day of Judgment'. Eastern Syriac: "malka yawma ldina"

Wakatabna alayhem fiha anna alnafs bilnafs walayn bilayn walanf bilanf walidhn bilidhn walsinn bil sinn, Q. 5: 46, trans. and therein we prescribed for them: a life for a life, and an eye for an eye, and a nose for a nose, and an ear for an ear, and tooth for a tooth (M. Sher Ali). The verse is read in Syriac as following: wktabnan layhen bha, en nafsha bnafsha wayna bayna wanfa banf wedna bedna wshena bshena.

Wama umiru illa liyabudu ilaahan wahidan, 9: 31. trans. yet they were commanded to worship but One God (A. Yusuf Ali). Syriac wma omar lhun, lobdin had Alaha, meaning: and what they were told, was to worship one God.
